BREAKING: Four-Star PF Alier Maluk Becomes Florida State's First Commitment In 2025 Class

In this story:
Leonard Hamilton and his staff get off to a strong start in the 2025 class, as top-50 prospect Alier Maluk has announced his commitment to Florida State, per his Instagram Live. This is FSU's first commitment in the 2025 class. Maluk just visited campus the weekend of October 6th, and shortly after released a Top-5 of Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, and Pittsburgh. With FSU being the only school he used an official visit for and him announcing his commitment shortly after visiting, this one felt obvious.

Leonard Hamilton and staff land the talented and versatile 6’10” forward playing for Long Island Lutheran as the first commit for 2025 @Maluk_Alier12 #Noles
Maluk is currently the 41st ranked player according to 247's composite rankings, and is a 6'10", 180-pound forward playing for Long Island Lutheran School (NY). He was at one point a top-20 player in the class, but has seen his rating fall slightly. This is another prototypical Leonard Hamilton type player, as Maluk is a long and rangy forward who can defend multiple positions and has great athleticism, and is honestly fairly similar to the player who Florida State signed last season and hosted Maluk on his visit: Taylor Bol Bowen.

The offensive side is still coming around for Maluk, but the flashes are absolutely there. He's not going to blow you away with outstanding ball-handling or shot-making, though his shooting touch has made some major progress recently. He has the ability to stretch the floor, but I think he's best in the open floor, where he can use his length and athleticism to finish in traffic. His defensive versatility is where he's going to earn his playing time though.
We talked to Maluk briefly after his visit, where he said he really enjoyed the culture around the team and the campus overall, and was excited about the potential opportunity with Florida State. As he's entering his junior year, FSU will likely want him to put on a little muscle and expand his offensive game, but he has all the tools to be a very productive player in Tallahassee.
