Father of FSU Football Quarterback Transfer Sends Message After Son Joins Program

Florida State's new quarterback is ready to get to work.

Florida State hit the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason to replace former star quarterback Jordan Travis. It didn't take long for the Seminoles to land one of their top options in graduate transfer DJ Uiagalelei. After suiting up for Oregon State and Clemson, the talented signal-caller will spend his final year at the college level in Tallahassee.

One week after signing with the program, Uiagalelei is already on campus and going through workouts with the team. As he begins his time at Florida State, Uiagalelei's father, Dave, sent out a message that should provide plenty of excitement for Seminole fans.

"DJ has finally arrived in Tallahassee, Florida. He hit the ground running, going straight to workouts and training with his teammates at [Florida State]."

"He is entering the next season with the utmost confidence. DJ is no stranger to hard work. He is always the first one to practice and the last one to leave, just like he was at OSU. He will be a sponge and do everything necessary to prepare for next season. Nothing is promised; everything is earned. That is DJ's mentality and why he values this opportunity. DJ does not take this opportunity lightly, and he is fully prepared to fight for the starting position and earn it. GO NOLES!"

Uiagalelei joins a quarterback room that also includes redshirt freshman Brock Glenn and true freshman Luke Kromenhoek. Quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz has a ton of talent at his disposal ahead of the 2024 season.

The California native is coming off a career year with Oregon State, He completed 57.1% of his passes for 2,638 yards with 21 touchdowns to seven interceptions while also rushing for six scores. Uiagalelei averaged 8.7 yards per attempt despite throwing fewer passes than in his two years when he started at Clemson.

During his college career, Uiagalelei has completed 695/1176 passes (59.1%) for 8,319 yards with 57 touchdowns to 24 interceptions. Uiagalelei has also rushed 343 times for 1,132 yards with 21 more scores on the ground.
