Florida State Linebacker DJ Lundy Officially Appears In NCAA Transfer Portal Database

The former Seminole is another surprise member of the team who is exploring options elsewhere.

Florida State has seen a plethora of players enter the NCAA Transfer Portal since the conclusion of the regular season and ACC Championship. The list includes multiple Seminoles who were expected to play large roles such as running back Rodney Hill, tight end Markeston Douglas, offensive lineman Bless Harris, and linebacker DJ Lundy.

On Monday, Lundy's name was officially listed in the database after he announced his intentions to enter the portal on Wednesday, December 13. There was speculation that he might remain with the team instead of testing the water elsewhere. Instead, Lundy can now be contacted by other programs across the country.

There is still a possibility that he will return to Florida State but this is a step towards Lundy moving on from Tallahassee. That would be a loss for the Seminoles as the veteran was projected to be the most experienced linebacker on the roster in 2024.

The Georgia native appeared in 45 games, with 17 starts, and totaled 183 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, one forced fumble, eight pass deflections, and one interception during his four years with the Seminoles. He recorded a career-high six tackles for loss, two sacks, and his lone interception this past season while playing 403 snaps on defense.

Lundy earned his degree from Florida State University over the weekend. He was one of 23 members of the team to graduate this fall.

Outside of Lundy, the Seminoles have seen quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), running back Rodney Hill, running back CJ Campbell, tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel, offensive lineman Bless Harris, offensive lineman Thomas Schrader, offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson, offensive lineman Qae'shon Sapp, defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase, linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner, and kicker Tyler Keltner enter the portal.

Defensive tackle Malcolm Ray publicly announced he was entering the portal but has yet to do so at this time.

Star defensive end Patrick Payton previously declared his intentions to do so but removed the references on social media and never officially appeared in the database.
