The Florida State Seminoles are on everyone's radar heading into the 2023 season, which kicks off with a prime-time showdown against the LSU Tigers under the lights in Camping World Stadium. ESPN released their post-spring rankings earlier this past week and had the garnet and gold landing at the No. 3 spot in the country before the ball flies through the air on September 3rd.

CBS Sports has the 'Noles ranked a little lower than ESPN at No. 7, but both rankings are a far cry from where the Seminoles were only a few years ago. The last time FSU Football has shown up on any reputable pre-season listing was when former head coach Willie Taggart took over the helm in 2017 when they ranked 19 in the 2018 polls, which quickly took a turn for the worse. The fans and faithful have stopped pointing fingers at each other after a successful 2022 campaign that saw head coach Mike Norvell and the 'Noles go on a 10-3 run (5-3 ACC), which began and ended with classic matchups for the ages.

"Go ahead and say it: FSU is (somewhere close to) back. The 10-win season was the Seminoles' first since 2016. Jordan Travis is a Heisman candidate with a solid offensive line. The defensive line is led by impact players Jared Verse and Fabien Lovett. With Clemson struggling, the Seminoles are more than the trendy pick in the ACC."

Florida State returns a vast majority of its playmakers from last season, including Heisman candidate Jordan Travis, who will be crucial in leading one of the top offenses in the country returning from last year. They will also be fielding one of the most experienced defensive lines in the country, headlined by All-American Jared Verse, defensive tackle Fabien Lovett Sr. and ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year Patrick Payton.

It is no secret that FSU is primed for another big year, and people are starting to take notice of things brewing in Tallahassee.
