Florida State overcame adversity and a mental hurdle against an opponent that had defeated the program seven straight times on Saturday. The Seminoles woke up following a first-half double-digit deficit to stun Clemson in Death Valley, 31-24.

The Tigers outgained FSU by 118 yards of total offense, including a 146-22 edge in rushing yards. Clemson had more first downs, more total plays, a better third-down conversion percentage, and an advantage in time of possession - and still lost.

On Sunday afternoon, the weekly Associated Press Top 25 Poll was released. Florida State drops a spot to No. 5 in the country after its close victory. The complete AP Top 25 Poll can be viewed here. FSU also dropped one spot to No. 4 in the Coaches Poll.

Taking a glance at the remainder of the poll, Georgia, Michigan, Texas, and Ohio State are teams ranked higher than the Seminoles. FSU received one three-place vote this week as well.

As of now, the Seminoles have three ranked teams remaining on their schedule; Duke (17), Miami (18), and Florida (22). Florida State is still the highest-ranked team in the ACC as North Carolina (15), the Blue Devils, and the Hurricanes are the only other programs currently ranked.

FSU might not have moved up in the polls this week but the win over Clemson was monumental for head coach Mike Norvell and his club. The Seminoles knocked off the previous kings of the ACC and are in control of their own destiny with two-thirds of the regular season remaining.

Florida State has a BYE week before returning to Doak Campbell Stadium to take on Virginia Tech on Saturday, October 7.
