Former FSU Football Head Coach Makes Appearance At Mike Martin's Memorial Service

In this story:
Former Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher was in attendance at longtime FSU head baseball coach Mike Martin’s memorial service at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee.
Martin – famously referred to as “11” (the jersey number he wore for years) – coached the ’Noles on the diamond for 40 years and holds the record as the winningest coach in not only college baseball history but in all NCAA sports.
Fisher was very close to Martin’s son, Mike Martin Jr. During Jimbo’s time at Florida State, Martin Jr. was an assistant coach for the baseball team. He was named head coach in 2019 and led the team for three seasons.

According to former FSU football star and Heisman winner Jameis Winston, Jimbo’s relationship with Martin Jr. was crucial in his recruitment to Tallahassee.
FSU Football Projected To Be In The Running For Double-Digit Wins In 2024
“Really the best thing he (Jimbo Fisher) did: His best friend was Mike Martin Jr. … They had a meeting with me. That’s a big thing, your football coach. Man, you believe in me that much you are going to let me play baseball? You’re gonna say that the baseball coach is your best friend, and we’re sitting there eating together, breaking bread together. I get to talk football and baseball,” Winston said on Barstool Sports' "Pardon My Take" podcast. “But what did I want to accomplish in college? I wanted to win a national championship. And if I could do that in football and baseball, ‘Yes, I’m going to Florida State.'”
Following the memorial service, Fisher was seen with Seminole alumni in College Town at a popular establishment, Township.
