Florida State Football Makes CBS Sports Top Ten

The Florida State Seminoles are coming into the football season hot. After a 10-3 (5-3 ACC) season, including a 35-32 Cheez-It Bowl victory over the Oklahoma Sooners, the Seminoles are climbing their way back to the top of college football.

Being a program with rich history, Florida State is dealing with a potential conference realignment to ensure they can get the resources needed to compete with the best teams in college football.

While that's something to worry about in the future, the Seminoles can work with what they have to make noise this season. CBS Sports released their preseason rankings, and Florida State broke the top ten, ranking No. 8 ahead of the season.

With the conference realignment talks ramping up, Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell remains set on the idea that the team is focused on the upcoming season and making a championship run.

"That is our sole focus when it comes to our football program, and what we're doing is to just go be our best, but ultimately there's always going to be outside conversation, and that's for the outside," Norvell said in his preseason media availability. "For us, we're locked in and focused on what we have ahead and just grateful for where we are and what we get to represent."

Florida State's ACC rival, Clemson, ranks just behind them, coming in at No. 9. The two are the top-two favorites to win the conference.

The beginning of the season will be incredibly telling for the Seminoles, though. Their first opponent, LSU, is ranked No. 4 in the preseason rankings. Florida State taking that matchup will be huge for their rankings beyond week one and will ultimately set the standard for their season.

For the Seminoles, taking a high ranking into the season will be just as important for their National Championship aspirations. Knocking off LSU on top of that would also give them an incredible rankings boost.
