Head coach Mike Norvell, Campbell, and defensive end Byron Turner met with the media post-practice to discuss how the day went and what they saw during their second scrimmage.
"I thought today was a good practice, coming back off the scrimmage got a chance to challenge some of the guys, just wanting more in performance. Some of our best players are continuing to get better. I've seen it for the last nine practices, and it's that constant sense of urgency for improvement. I thought that showed up today."
The defense, in particular, stood out to Norvell. He mentioned two interceptions that came from tipped passes, and those guys in those moments responded well.
"Had some really good plays. One of the things I'm pleased with is a couple of tipped pass interceptions. The balls got to be caught, there were a couple opportunities for receivers that the balls were tipped, but we made some exceptional interceptions. Coach (Patrick) Surtain has been working a lot with our guys," Norvell said. "It's been a big point of emphasis of trying to create takeaways. It's one thing to emphasize it, but I really think the buy-in from those guys in the defensive backfield, there were a couple of extraordinary plays."
When asked about some of the best players that continue to get better, he had a long list of names.
"Jordan Travis, Jared Verse, I mean those guys, Lawrance Toafili has been pretty remarkable through all of this. I think Johnny (Wilson), it's impressive to see what he's doing. I could go through a long list of guys; I mean, you look at just the mindset of what they're bringing. Jarrian Jones, I think I mentioned him in the scrimmage. Renardo Green, I like what I'm seeing in the defensive backfield."
