The NCAA Transfer Portal is creating unprecedented movement across the country in college football. Thousands of players have utilized the portal to move programs or divisions for a variety of reasons. Some of the names may be familiar to Florida State fans even if they didn't play their college careers in Tallahassee.

Over the last couple of weeks, two Seminole legacies have decided to continue their journeys in the ACC. After spending the last two years at Texas A&M, quarterback Max Johnson and tight end Jake Johnson will both be moving on to North Carolina. The pair of brothers are the sons of former FSU quarterback Brad Johnson.

The Tar Heels were in the market for a new signal-caller after Drake Maye declared for the NFL Draft and Johnson is a talented option who has dealt with injuries over the years. He's got two seasons of eligibility remaining and plenty of experience after playing for the Aggies and LSU.

Johnson appeared in eight games, with starts, this past season while completing 118/190 passes for 1,452 yards with nine touchdowns to five interceptions and two scores on the ground. During his time at LSU and Texas A&M, he's completed a total of 474/784 passes for 5,853 yards with 47 touchdowns to 12 interceptions.

North Carolina will also benefit from the services of a receiving threat such as the younger Johnson. The former top-100 recruit appeared in 12 games, with four starts, in 2023. He caught 24 passes for 235 yards and four touchdowns. The highlights included a scoring connection with his brother in Texas A&M's win over Auburn - the first in program history.

The Johnson's father played in Tallahassee from 1989-1992 as Florida State won a bowl game during all four of his years with the program. He completed 161/249 passes for 1,746 yards with 14 touchdowns to nine interceptions while adding two scores on the ground. Johnson led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl win in franchise history in 2003.

Florida State is scheduled to host North Carolina in 2024. The exact date for the contest won't be revealed until the beginning of the new year.
