Report: FSU Quarterback Tate Rodemaker Considered 'Game-Time Decision' For ACC Championship

Florida State's quarterback situation is reportedly up in the air entering the contest against Louisville.

Florida State is entering its first ACC Championship game appearance in nine years as the team prepares to take on the Louisville Cardinals. The Seminoles are already without star quarterback Jordan Travis and could be missing the services of his backup as well.

According to a report from ESPN, redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker is considered a 'game-time decision' ahead of the contest on Saturday night. Shortly after the news began to make its way around, an FSU spokesperson provided NoleGameday with further clarity on the situation.

"We are working through the process with Tate and we'll see what that means for tomorrow."

The report didn't disclose a specific injury that Rodemaker is dealing with but he did take a massive hit late in Florida State's rivalry win over Florida last weekend.

Following the play, Rodemaker stayed down on the field as a handful of trainers, coaches, and players ran over to his aid. He was forced out of the game for a couple of plays while being assessed in the medical tent, presumably for a concussion. Rodemaker returned to the game and finished the contest against the Gators.

In the wake of his absence, true freshman Brock Glenn took over and had his lone pass deflected at the line of scrimmage. He did have a five-yard scramble that was negated by an offsides penalty on Florida. Glenn missed time earlier this year while dealing with an injury to his non-throwing hand.

If Rodemaker is unable to suit up against the Cardinals, Glenn will once again step up in his place. The true freshman has played sparingly in 2023, only seeing action in three games. He's completed 2/4 passes for 35 yards while rushing six times for 37 yards and a touchdown.

On the other hand, Rodemaker has been with the program for four years and has ample experience in the system and leading Florida State on the field. He guided the Seminoles to a comeback victory at Louisville in 2022. During his career in Tallahassee, he's completed 68/118 passes for 901 yards with seven touchdowns to five interceptions.

The Seminoles need a victory over the Cardinals in Charlotte to advance to the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2014. Florida State and Louisville will kick off at 8:00 p.m. and the contest will be televised on ABC.
