With star wide receiver Johnny Wilson out of the lineup, the Seminoles were well aware they would need a team effort to take down Syracuse. That's exactly what Florida State delivered as fellow standout wide receiver Keon Coleman put forth his best performance in garnet & gold while the defense kept a tight squeeze on the Orange throughout the game.

Coleman caught a season-high nine passes for 140 yards and one touchdown. His 58-yard score on a dime from quarterback Jordan Travis was the longest of his college career. That wasn't his only big play though as Coleman exploded in the return game, nearly scoring a touchdown on a 72-yard run back where he was brought down inside the ten. He was credited with an eye-popping 247 all-purpose yards on the afternoon.

On the other side of the ball, the Seminoles held Syracuse to 261 yards of total offense and three points while forcing nine punts. Only one of the Orange's 12 drives produced points as defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and his unit put together a complete game.

One of the exceptional performances on the day came from redshirt sophomore safety Shyheim Brown, who totaled seven tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one pass breakup. He showed off the physicality and awareness that are beginning to turn him into a breakout player for the Seminoles.

Following the victory, the sledgehammer was fittingly passed around the locker room after the contributions that Florida State received from the players and coaching staff. Adam Fuller, Keon Coleman, and Shyheim Brown all earned the honor of breaking the sixth rock of the 2023 season.

Coleman also earned the sledgehammer after scoring three touchdowns in his debut with the program against LSU. Trey Benson joined him the following week after recording a hat-trick of his own and broke another rock after rushing for 200 yards against Virginia Tech. DJ Lundy had the honor against Boston College following a performance that included an interception and a rushing touchdown. Linebacker Kalen DeLoach broke the rock after a game-changing forced fumble that he returned for a touchdown against Clemson.
