The Florida State Seminoles got off to a bad start against the North Alabama Lions. They were down 13-0 through the first quarter.

However, the worst result came not from the scoreboard, but rather a gruesome injury suffered by Jordan Travis. Losing a star quarterback always stings, but losing a star quarterback to a gruesome injury during his final home game in Tallahassee is even worse.

With it being senior day, the final home game of the season, and an opportunity for the Seminoles to jump to 11-0 on the season, Jameis Winston was also getting his jersey retired and was at the game.

The legendary quarterback was in person as Travis went down with an injury and had to leave the stadium by ambulance.

"I just want to continue to encourage him to stay resilient and continue to persevere," Winston said from the arena. "He's the epitome of that with his college football career. ...I'm grateful to be rocking his jersey. The significance of his number, with us winning a championship in 2013, with him being one of the best quarterbacks this year. I just want to continue to lift him up."

Winston knows what it takes to win a championship at this level with this program, as he alluded to doing in 2013. Travis and his squad had their sights set on the same goal, but now things have taken a turn and the Seminoles will have to be playing for something bigger than themselves.

"Just stay resilient," Winston continued. "He's going to be fine, I know he will."

The timing of the injury was brutal, as the next few weeks could see the Seminoles solidify their position in the College Football Playoffs, allowing Travis to show his capabilities on the biggest stage before heading to the pro level of football.

With everything Travis has endured over his long career, it's hard to imagine he won't bounce back in an incredible way, and it's going to be great to watch him find success after hitting a road bump.
