WATCH: Trey Benson Scores Huge Touchdown Against Virginia Tech

After it looked like the Seminoles would cruise through this matchup, the Hokies strung together some big plays to make it close.

The Florida State Seminoles seemed as if they would be cruising through this game. Then, a 17-point run by the Virginia Tech Hokies made this one closer than expected. This was similar to what was seen against Boston College when the Seminoles had to squeak their way out of the game.

As the Seminoles were in this position, up 22-17, Trey Benson would step up to the plate and score a 62-yard touchdown on the ground.

Not only is this now Benson's longest career touchdown, but an insanely impactful run just after the Hokies returned the Seminoles' kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown that made this game close in the first place.

The Seminoles will have to keep their foot on the gas pedal to close this game out, as dominating inferior opponents is the first step to building a College Football Playoff-caliber team.

With a couple of close calls here and there with Boston College and Clemson, pulling away and dominating Virginia Tech, which it seemed the Seminoles were going to do early, could be huge for this squad.

Benson is leading the way on the ground with nine rushes for 107 yards and a touchdown as Florida State has surged back in front 32-17 in the final minutes of the third quarter.
