FSU Football Remains Top Contender For Four-Star RB Byron Louis After Latest Visit

The Seminoles are standing out with Louis for a variety of reasons.

The Florida State Seminoles are in the middle of spring practice in Tallahassee. Last week, the present and future collided as recruits got a chance to visit campus and get a feel for what being a Seminole truly is like.

As a part of FSU’s Legacy recruiting weekend, prospects were able to chat with former Florida State greats about how they cemented a legacy in Tallahassee. One of those recruits is four-star running back Byron Louis. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound prospect out of American Heritage had a lot to say following his visit about the people he was able to talk to and the coaching philosophy someone like Mike Norvell brings to the table.

“I talked to a lot of the former players, I talked to the running back (Warrick Dunn), great guy, great wisdom. He was just telling me about his story, how he was overlooked and just kept his head down and kept working, you know, and he just proved all the doubters wrong and that was just amazing to see.”

Louis added that his experience over the weekend was highlighted by the people behind the scenes as well. Although Florida State’s resume is among the best in the nation, the people are what keeps the program alive.

“I mean it’s the people here. Not necessarily the facilities and all the rings and all the championships, but solely on what they’re building upon and how coach Norvell implements how the people here are just amazing.”

Ever since Norvell took the reins as head coach of the Seminoles, former players have talked about how their experience at Florida State made them the best version of themselves. With stars like Jared Verse, Jermaine Johnson, and Jordan Travis all attributing FSU for a great deal of their success, there is no doubt that the program has become a destination school for recruits once again.

With that being said, time and time again, players past and present emphasize that FSU isn’t for everyone, and to wear the garnet and gold come game day, you have to consistently play at the top of your game.

“What stands out to me about Florida State is, yes you expect them to come to you, but honestly, you have to want to be here. You have to want to be coached by these coaches, you have to want to learn, you have to want to be a team player, you have to want to be the best you,” Louis said. “You know, coach Norvell always says, if you’re not willing to be the best you, if you’re not willing to be the best teammate, the best human, the best son if you’re not willing to be the best then don’t come here. I feel as if that’s very important because not everybody can come here, not everybody is invited here, not everybody is able to wear that garnet and gold.”

Louis added that he plans to take an official visit to FSU sometime before fall and he will be releasing a full list of official visits in the near future. He added that his commitment will come after he has taken all official visits and can be expected sometime in the middle of the fall. Louis noted that he plans to early enroll at whichever program he signs with.

The Florida native is regarded as the No. 198 overall prospect, the No. 14 RB, and the No. 29 recruit in the Sunshine State in the 2025 class according to 247Sports.
