The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have taken to a new era as Tom Brady has made his way into retirement. With that, they signed Baker Mayfield, who has led the Buccaneers to a promising 2-1 start to the season.

What's unique about this situation is that Mayfield is a former No. 1 draft pick out of Oklahoma, and he helped the Cleveland Browns break their postseason drought before being sent away to the Carolina Panthers, another bad situation for him.

Mayfield signed with the Los Angeles Rams midway through last season, which acted as a refresher of what talent he has, leading to him succeeding Brady in Tampa. This has led to comparisons to Florida State great Jameis Winston, who has had a similar NFL trajectory.

Both being Heisman winners and No. 1 overall picks, neither panned out immediately like they were predicted to or as one might expect someone with that college football resume to.

"Similar in the aspect of being the first pick," Mayfield said of the comparison on Wednesday. "Not exactly going the way you want it to, but then getting opportunities to have a fresh start. I'm a fan of Jameis; he's a locker-room guy. Yeah, every story's different."

Both of these players have made the College Football Playoff with their team. To do that, a player has to be a good leader, considering they're playing the most important position on the field. It's no surprise both made good leaders in the NFL. On top of this, they've both faced adversity in their careers, furthering their abilities to lead.

Winston is in a position now to take on Mayfield head-to-head, as Winston is expected to be the New Orleans Saints starting quarterback against Mayfield and the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Watching what these quarterbacks will be able to do against each other will be a fun battle in the next weekend of football.
