Florida State's coaching staff always keeps an eye on the future while focusing on the present. That's one reason that the Seminoles have been able to have success on the recruiting trail under head coach Mike Norvell. The coaching staff has become adept at identifying talent years away and capitalizing on it.

Two recent examples come to mind in four-star quarterback Luke Kromenhoek and three-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. In both cases, FSU got in on the two early before most major programs. That could end up paying off for the program in more ways than one.

On Tuesday evening, five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench announced his top-five and Florida State made the cut alongside Alabama, Penn State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. He previously set a commitment date of July 22 following a trip to check out the Crimson Tide.

Ffrench is one of the Seminoles' top targets in the 2025 class which is something that has been conveyed to him by the coaching staff and at least one verbal commitment. In fact, he's a high school teammate of the previously mentioned Tramell Jones Jr.

After pledging to Florida State in April, Jones Jr. is already doing his part on the recruiting trail, including recruiting a prospect that he has established chemistry with on Friday nights.

"If you want to be coached by the best, he sees the relationship he has here, he's definitely wanted. I feel like this is the place for him - what he wants, his playing style, it's just perfect here," Jones Jr. said to NoleGameday at FSU's Elite Camp.

It remains to be seen if that connection pays off in Florida State's favor. Regardless, the Seminoles have also hosted Ffrench for four official visits since last September - more than any other program. That includes a trip earlier this month where he participated and connected with Jones Jr. at the Elite Camp.

Ffrench is coming off a standout sophomore season where he caught 44 passes for 671 yards and five touchdowns. Jones Jr. completed 161/277 passes (58.1%) for 2,310 yards with 23 passing touchdowns to nine interceptions last season.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound wide receiver is regarded as the No. 15 overall prospect, the No. 4 WR, and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2025 class according to 247Sports.

Florida State holds the No. 11 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle with the pledges of Jones Jr. and four-star wide receiver DL Hardison.
