Former Florida State Top-100 Safety Commitment Pledges to SEC Program

After decommitting from the Seminoles last month, the four-star prospect didn't take long to land elsewhere.

Florida State spent a lot of time expanding its recruiting board at safety during the first half of the year. The investment seemed peculiar at the time with the Seminoles holding pledges from two players at the position in the 2024 class. However, the foresight paid off when four-star safety Jordan Pride decommited from the program last month.

The move for the two sides to part ways felt like it had been coming for a better part of the last year. At the time of his decommitment, Pride was Florida State's second-longest standing pledge in #Tribe24.

Less than a month after moving on from the Seminoles, Pride has already found a new landing spot elsewhere. On Tuesday, he announced that he was committing to Texas A&M over Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

This comes as a little bit of a surprise as it seemed that Pride was trending to Gainesville. He visited Florida multiple times this offseason but did take a trip to Texas A&M last week.

With Pride off the board, Florida State has turned its focus to prospects such as four-star Ricardo Jones, four-star Jalewis Solomon, four-star Jarvis Boatwright, four-star Travaris Banks, four-star Zavier Mincey, and three-star Chalil Cummings during the spring. Jones is one of the team's top targets in the recruiting cycle.

Florida State holds a verbal commitment from three-star safety CJ Heard. In total, the Seminoles' 2024 recruiting class ranks No. 8 in the country with 11 pledges at this point of the cycle, according to 247Sports.

Pride is regarded as the No. 96 overall prospect, the No. 6 safety, and the No. 18 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
