Four-star wide receiver Zion Ragins is one of the fastest seniors in the country. He traveled to Tallahassee for an official visit that ended up being his first trip to Florida State in over a year.
"I just wanted to get my hands on and just see how it is down here and see what the atmosphere is like," Ragins said to NoleGameday's Dustin Lewis.
"What I learned, if you come, being here is amazing. The coaches, the atmosphere, it's like a great feeling," Ragins continued.
Throughout the visit, he sat down with wide receivers coach Ron Dugans to learn more about how he would fit in FSU's offense. The coaching staff wants to add a player like him to the room.
"They said I fit in pretty good. They'll be able to use me in a lot of ways," Ragins said. "Our plays that we run in our high school are similar to what Florida State runs, basically. They want somebody up here like me."
Redshirt junior wide receiver Ja'Khi Douglas was Ragins' player host. He told him more details about what to expect if he chooses the Seminoles.
"He gave me a good perspective," Ragins said. "It's like a great atmosphere down here, he likes it a lot, he's been down here for three years."
Among the 14 recruits on campus for official visits were five prospects that are already committed to Florida State. Three-star safety commit CJ Heard was one of the prospects that talked with Ragins about joining the class.
"CJ Heard, I had talked to him about it," Ragins said. "I think he's a safety commit. He likes it out here and I really fit this offense.
The Georgia native was impressed with head coach Mike Norvell. His energy and optimism caught his attention.
"It was probably coach Norvell, how he was acting," Ragins said. "He was always happy, stuff like that."
Track will play somewhat of a role in his decision. Ragins spoke with Florida State's coach during his visit.
"I talked to the track coach yesterday about it," Ragins said. "He said I'll fit really good with the track program."
Ragins is moving towards a decision after officially visiting Florida State, Oklahoma and Georgia. He's looking to make an announcement at some point in July.
Relationships and playing time will be two factors he's looking at in the program of his choice.
"Really the relationship and the ability to play," Ragins said. "I don't want to go somewhere where they'll be like this and that and not be real about it."
The 5-foot-9, 150-pound wide receiver is regarded as the No. 190 overall prospect, the No. 29 WR, and the No, 27 recruit in the state of Georgia in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
