The Seminoles have a type when it comes to defensive backs. Long, rangy, versatile, and tough. Just look across the recruiting board as the majority of Florida State's targets at cornerback or safety possess ample size for their respective positions.

There might not be a larger defensive back that FSU is involved with than three-star prospect Jiquavious Marshall. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds, Marshall has the frame and ability to play across the secondary at the college level. His potential has enamored the Seminoles, who got the chance to see him up and close this weekend for an official visit.

"Great. I love the facility. Love all the coaches, the bond that I have with these guys. I bonded with the team pretty well," Marshall said to NoleGameday's Dustin Lewis.

Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. believes that Marshall can play multiple positions at the college level. He showed the rangy athlete some of the schemes that Florida State runs on defense. To say the least, the approach clicked with Marshall.

"He was showing me the schemes that they run," Marshall said. "Basically walking me through as if I was already one of his players and I absolutely loved it."

"Really gained me, gained my bond, gained my trust in just one visit so imagine what's going to happen over the years," Marshall continued.

Marshall spent time with multiple current players, including safety Shyheim Brown and cornerback Kevin Knowles. He felt like he was already a member of the team when they were hanging out.

"They felt like a brotherhood. My whole time being here, they treated me like I was already one of their brothers," Marshall said. "It's a big family. No matter what, they're always going to be there for you. They don't show fake love, it's hard love but it's real."

Prior to the conclusion of the official visit, the Georgia native returned to Florida State's campus to meet with head coach Mike Norvell. He described the message from Norvell.

"That if I commit here or come here, just work it," Marshall said. "He is going to make me into a better man, not just a football player."

Marshall says that he nearly committed to the Seminoles during the visit. He made it clear that Florida State is the current leader in his recruitment.

"I definitely considered committing," Marshall said. "They definitely set the standard for any school that is wanting me. FSU is really on top right now."

Moving into the rest of the month, Marshall has plans to check out Kentucky and Georgia Tech. He will probably visit Pittsburgh as well prior to a decision at the end of June.

It sounds like it's going to take something significant for another school to move his mind off of Florida State.

"Right now I have my mind made up until another school changes it," Marshall said.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound defensive back is regarded as the No. 585 overall prospect, the No. 55 ATH, and the No. 72 recruit in the state of Georgia in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
