Florida State landed a commitment from four-star athlete Lawayne McCoy on Thursday. It wasn't just a moment for the Seminoles to celebrate because McCoy chose the program over rival Miami. It's also a moment to be excited because this kid can flat out play.

McCoy is coming off a junior season where he starred for Miami Central High School on both sides of the ball. The Rockets ended up winning a State Championship behind his 24.6 yards per catch and three touchdowns.

The Florida native isn't the biggest receiver, standing at just 6-foot, 170-pounds. With that being said, he has the athleticism, hands, and a ball skills to go up vertically and make big plays. Let's pull up some evidence.

During an Overtime 7-on-7 event last month, McCoy made a ridiculous one-handed highlight reel grab to secure an overtime victory for RAW Miami. On the play, he tracked a deep ball, got in position, and simply outjumped his defender for a remarkable catch. McCoy was even behind the defensive back but didn't seem to be phased at all as he plucked the ball away for a touchdown.

Check out the moment below to see what the South Florida star is bringing to Tallahassee.

A four-star prospect, McCoy is the third wide receiver to commit to Florida State in the 2024 class. He joins fellow four-star recruits TJ Abrams and Camdon Frier as a member of the No. 6 recruiting class in the country.

McCoy caught 20 passes for 491 yards and three touchdowns on offense while pulling down nine tackles, five pass deflections, and an interception on defense in 2022. He's regarded as the No. 172 overall prospect, the No. 13 ATH, and the No. 28 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
