The beginning of September didn't only welcome the return of college football around the country. It also means that coaches can hit the road to watch potential prospects on Friday nights while recruits can visit college campuses for gamedays.

On the night prior to Florida State's home opener against Southern Miss, head coach Mike Norvell decided to check out the matchup between Colquitt County High School and Lee County High School. Norvell arrived in style, taking a helicopter to the game, per On3's Jeremy Johnson.

This obviously isn't the first time we've seen Norvell utilize a helicopter for his travels. He was flying around the region back in the spring and took a couple of trips to prep contests last fall.

The main purpose of his grand entrance was to watch five-star tight end and Florida State commitment Landen Thomas in action. One of the top prospects in the 2024 class, Thomas has been pledged to the Seminoles since flipping from Georgia in April. He ended up being a key piece in Colquitt County's 37-20 win over Lee County.

Outside of Thomas, there were notable prospects on both sides. That included two of his teammates in four-star Georgia wide receiver commitment Ny Carr and three-star Duke defensive line commitment Tyshon Reed. 2025 four-star running back Ousmane Kromah was the player to watch on the Lee County side.

Reed and Carr are both expected to join Thomas in Tallahassee for unofficial visits when the Seminoles and Golden Eagles face off on Saturday night.

Florida State holds 21 verbal commitments in its 2024 class which ranks No. 4 in the country according to 247Sports.
