Two More FSU Football Players To Miss Remainder Of Spring Practice Due To Injury

Mike Norvell announced that two more Seminoles will be out for the rest of the spring.

Florida State is nearing the halfway point of spring practice. With the amount of physicality and level of competition that the Seminoles are bringing to the field, injuries are bound to pop up. It is football, after all.

Following Thursday's practice, head coach Mike Norvell informed the media that two more players won't be available for the rest of spring. Sophomore wide receiver Destyn Hill and redshirt sophomore tight end Jerrale Powers are both working their way back from injuries. Hill went down in a recent practice and Norvell didn't offer clarification on the exact ailment that he's dealing with.

It's an unfortunate situation as Hill had been one of Florida State's more consistent wide receivers to this point. He was popping up with one to two big plays a practice while bringing plenty of energy to the field.

"I do have one announcement. Destyn Hill is going to be the rest of the spring, he was injured the other day so he'll be out. Jerrale Powers will be the other that's kind of for sure going to be out for the rest of spring practice," Norvell said on Thursday. Obviously, we'll continue to evaluate where things go and what the extend of that is as we're heading into fall. Just wanted to give an update on those two guys personnel-wise, they'll be out for the rest of spring."

The former four-star recruit in the 2021 class arrived at Florida State last summer to begin his college career and saw action in the season-opener against LSU. Hill ended up appearing ten games while making his first start in the win over Virginia Tech. He caught six passes for 87 yards on the year. Hill was limited at points of the season while trying to overcome an ankle injury.

Powers has spent most of his three seasons with the Seminoles developing and transitioning to the tight end position after playing wide receiver in high school. He redshirted in 2022 and made his debut in the home opening win against Southern Miss last year. Powers is one of five scholarship tight ends on the roster alongside redshirt senior Kyle Morlock, redshirt junior Jackson West, junior Brian Courtney, and true freshman Landen Thomas

Norvell previously announced that offensive tackle Robert Scott, defensive tackle Joshua Farmer, and defensive back Jamari Howard will miss the rest of the spring.
