Dickey had recently joined the Bulldogs as a staff member for the 2023 season while Cochran had been an integral member of the Bulldogs staff beginning in 2020. He had also previously worked with Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart during the two coaches' time with Alabama. In response to the news, Smart offered this statement, where he wished both men well in their future endeavors.

“I want to thank Scott and Darrell for their contributions to Georgia football. We wish them all the best moving forward. ”

While the core pieces of the Bulldogs 2024 roster and coaching staff remain intact. The loss of both Cochran and Dickey's experience and knowledge of the sport will surely be felt at some point in the Bulldogs' 2024 season
