Former Georgia and San Fransisco 49ers tight end Charlie Woerner has signed a deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

It doesn't happen very often, but a former Georgia Bulldog is headed to play for the Atlanta Falcons per reports. NFL free agency officially opened on Monday and tight end Charlier Woerner has inked a three-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. The deal is worth $12 million, per Michael Rothstein with ESPN.

Woerner spent the last four seasons with the San Fransisco 49ers. Over that time, he reeled in 11 receptions for 120 yards. The former Bulldog has made a name for himself in the professional league as an additional end-of-line blocker, which is the role he thrived in with the 49ers. Considering the Falcons already have Kyle Pitts on the roster and recently just released Jonnu Smith from the roster, it can be expected that Woerner will continue that role in Atlanta.

The Georgia native also served a very similar role as a Bulldog. Over four years with the program, Woerner tallied 34 receptions for 376 yards and a touchdown. He may not put up the flashy numbers that most modern-day tight ends do, but Woerner is proving that there is still value in doing the dirty work at a high level as he has thus far in his career.
