Georgia Defense Ranks First in Average Points Allowed Over Five Year Span

In the sport of football, there are few things as daunting on an opposing team as a highly talented defense. Kirby Smart knows this better than anyone, as he has been a part of some of the sport's most historic defenses of all time.
But while great defenses are a must in college football, the Georgia Bulldogs' defense over the past few seasons has been in a league of their own. On top of leading their team to three-straight 12-0 regular seasons and two national titles, the Bulldogs' defense has averaged just 14.1 points allowed over the previous five seasons.

This average is the lowest allowed by any collegiate team over the 5-year span of 2019-2023. The Bulldogs were one of two teams on the list to win a national championship in this timeframe with the other being the Michigan Wolverines in 2023.
Great defense is and always has been an essential component to a team's national championship success and this statistic proves that the Bulldogs have been the defensive standard in college football for quite some time now and will likely continue to be for many seasons to come.
