Georgia's Carson Beck and Dillon Bell Ranked Among Best CFB Duos
Heading into the 2024 college football season, the anticipation is slowly starting to build, and the Georgia Bulldogs are looking to strike their way back to the top of the sport. They return Carson Beck, their starting quarterback, and some other key pieces around him on offense that will make the Dawgs a tough out. But one receiver specifically is arguably the biggest returnee amongst the position group, and the quarterback-receiver duo might be one of the best in college football.
CBS's Chip Patterson wrote an article that covered the ten best QB-WR duos in all of college football. On the list for Georgia were Beck and Dillon Bell.
Georgia lost three of their biggest offensive contributors from a season ago to the NFL draft this offseason. Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint all made the jump to the professional level. Those departures quickly made the Bulldogs dig into the portal to snag a few receivers to build some depth, but the cupboard wasn't left completely bare.
Throughout the entire 2023 season, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo utilized Bell in a multitude of ways in the offense. So much so, that he finished the season with 25 carries and 157 rushing yards despite being a wide receiver. It wasn't until the last quarter of the season though when Bell put his skill set on full display.
Against Tennessee, Bell reeled in five receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a touchdown against the Volunteers. Bell then had another stellar performance against Florida State in the Orange Bowl when he racked up five receptions for 86 yards. As the season progressed, it seemed as though Beck was looking Bell's way on a more frequent basis, and that the two started to form a tight-knit chemistry with every passing game.

As mentioned before, Georgia doesn't return much production from last year's offense in the receiving game, but Bell looked the part of someone who could carry the load for the Bulldogs down the stretch of a season. Patterson described Bell as, "a multi-purpose threat who got moved all around the offense in his sophomore season, where he showed not only unique athleticism but the ability to make tough catches against quality competition."
Beck may not have his go-to weapons from his first season as the starting quarterback, but he's got a weapon in Bell that can make plays from multiple spots on the field. If the latter half of the 2023 season was any indicator for what is to come out of those two players, they could be in store for a special season this year.
