For more than 20 years the SEC has been synonymous with a handful of things. Hard-nosed football, extreme passion from fans and players, and a 3:30 kickoff for the conference's best game of the week. However, one of those things will be coming to an end this Saturday. as the SEC Championship will mark CBS's final broadcast covering the conference.

"The SEC on CBS" began in 1996 when the broadcast company signed a deal with the conference to host a weekly matchup between the SEC's two biggest teams.

During that time, the station's iconic theme song, as well as beloved broadcasters, became a staple of many SEC fans' Saturdays all while witnessing some of the conference's most iconic moments in the history of the sport including "The Kick Six", "The Gator Stomp" and many others.

The station's iconic run was announced to be coming to an end in 2020 when ESPN inked a new, 10-year deal with the conference that would begin in the 2024 season and make the station the SEC's premier network for broadcasting both football and basketball sports.

With the SEC Championship being the last in-conference matchup of the 2023 season, CBS Sports' historic run with the conference will close after this week. But if Saturday's SEC Championship is anything like Georgia vs Alabama matchups of the past, "The SEC on CBS" may have saved the best for last.
