Three Bulldogs Included in Latest First Round NFL Mock Draft Ahead of Combine

Three former Bulldogs were included in Mel Kiper's latest first-round NFL mock draft ahead of the NFL combine this weekend.

The NFL combine event is set to take place this weekend as a wide spread of draft eligible players hope to make a final effort to improve their draft stock and leave a good impression on all NFL organizations. Before the event kicked off though, Mel Kiper released a first-round mock draft to provide some insight into where he believes some of the top players in the draft currently sit.

Three former Bulldogs were included in the mock draft, with one of them being a top-10 pick. That seems to be the number that most draft analysts are comfortable with as things currently sit when it comes to predicting which Georgia players will hear their names called on day one of the draft. If the Bulldogs show out at the combine like they have in years past though that number could very well increase.

Brock Bowers was the first Bulldog off the board in Kiper's mock draft at the ten slot going to the New York Jets. He noted that the need for quarterbacks and depth at other positions in this draft could be what could potentially keep Bowers from being a top-10 selection this year, not because his talent isn't worthy of such a high selection. Bowers mentioned that his preferred destination would be the Tennessee Titans but the Jets may not be a bad option either. Aaron Rodgers is expected to return this season and pairing Bowers up with one of the greatest to ever do it would certainly be fun to watch.

Amarius Mims was the next Georgia player on the list but at the 24th overall pick to the Dallas Cowboys. Draft analysts continue to mention that Mims' lack of starts at the collegiate level is currently keeping him out of the top 15. Eight starts during his time at Georgia isn't a lot but his potential and ceiling are what will keep him in the first round. A strong performance at the combine though could very well kick Mims up a few spots in his position group rankings, and that seems like a likely outcome.

Wrapping up the mock draft for the Bulldogs was Kamari Lassiter, going 30th overall to the Baltimore Ravens. During his time as a starter at Georgia, Lassiter played clean football and was the definition of a lockdown defender and always remained in a good position. Kiper mentioned that he is interested to see what he runs in the 40-yard dash this weekend, but based on everything he put on film during his time in Athens, he appears to be worth a first-round selection.
