Top Five Moments From Georgia's 2023 Season

The 2023 season has come to a close for the Georgia Bulldogs; with that, we look at the top five moments from the 2023 season.

Another exciting Georgia Bulldogs football season has ended after the No. 6 team in the country ceased their season with a 13-1 record. There are multiple highs and lows from this season, but here we will look at some of the top moments from the end of the 2022 season to the Dawgs' final game against Florida State to end the calendar year.

Some should be mentioned before diving into this season's top five moments. G Day is one of these moments that should be honorably mentioned. It was a day of not only preparation for the 2023 season but a day of celebration as well. The Dawgs unveiled their rings from the 2022 national championship, Brock Bowers received the first of his two John Mackey awards, and fans were introduced to the future of the Dawgs program. One more spectacular highlight from this season is the No. 1 ranked recruiting class from 2024 that the Dawgs have almost certainly solidified, with the help of a KJ Bolden flip from Florida State. Now for the top five moments from this season.

5. Dillon Bell Goes Off Versus Tennessee

Knoxville, TN., is the setting of Georgia's third straight ranked matchup at the backend of their schedule, and it was a game circled by many of Tennessee's fans. Brock Bowers had already made his infamous comeback a week prior when Georgia faced Ole Miss, so many eyes were on him this game against the Volunteers. But one unexpected player stood up and showed out. That player is sophomore Dillon Bell. Bell would've fit the script if the "Joker" position from Arthur Smith's Falcons team were to be implemented in Athens. Bell finished the game as the team's second-leading receiver with five catches for 90 yards and a touchdown while also completing an 18-yard touchdown pass of his own.

4. The Dawgs Chomp Up The Rebels On Primetime

Another night game, Between the Hedges, occurred in late mid-November as the then No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels came to town to take on the then No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs. It was one of the premiere matchups from any game this season. Many were calling for an upset or, at the bare minimum, a tightly contested game, but no one expected the pummeling that was handed to Ole Miss that night. Kendall Milton found his stride that finally got him over the hump of the injuries that have seemingly held him back. He led the ground attack, running the ball nine total times for 127 yards and two touchdowns. CJ Allen also burst onto the scene in his first career start, picking up nine tackles, a sack, and a tackle for loss. The Dawgs put on a show that night, winning 52-17 and moving their record to 10-0.

3. Georgia's Senior Class Hit the 50-Win Mark

Along with all of the historic marks there set this season by Georgia, one of these marks could arguably be more meaningful than the rest. Georgia's senior class finished their career in Athens by notching 50 total wins and only four losses. This senior class from the University of Georgia is one of the winningest classes in all of college football, joining the likes of Alabama and Clemson's classes from 2019. These Dawgs have helped attain two national championships, two Chic-Fil-A Peach Bowl wins (2020, 2022), two Orange Bowl victories (2021, 2023), and record-breaking performances. Big congratulations are due to those Dawgs.

2. The Georgia Bulldogs Become the Record Breakers

One of the biggest storylines from this season is how long the Georgia Bulldogs had been winning. The Dawgs started being mentioned with some of the longest winning streaks in college football history, such as the Oklahoma Sooners' 47-game win streak. Georgia set an SEC record for the most consecutive wins after their victory over Georgia Tech this season, with 29 straight wins. It's one of the more impressive feats from this season.

1. Georgia Finishes the Season With Dominance

After losing in the SEC Championship to Alabama, the Georgia Bulldogs saw their number one ranking slip out of their grasp as they fell to number 6 in the CFP rankings. The Bulldogs were set to play in the Orange Bowl against the ACC CHampions, No. 5 Florida State Seminoles. Florida State had plenty of opt-outs and transfer portal entries following the team being left out of the playoffs. Despite that, Kirby Smart and his Bulldogs wanted to come in and make a statement, and they did just that. Breaking their own record for the largest margin of victory in a bowl game, the Dawgs rolled the Seminoles to cap off their historic season, winning 63-3.

Georgia had one of the more memorable 2023 seasons in all of college football. There were plenty of fun memories to recall from this season, like an epic victory over the Kentucky Wildcats, handling business to clinch another SEC East title against the Missouri Tigers, or even Will Muschamp having a boatload of fun watching Jackson Muschamp, his son, picking up a first down with his legs in the Orange Bowl. It is sad to see another football season come to a close, but it only means there is more to come from the 2024 season, with the Dawgs opening as the national title favorites
