What Player Could Breakout for Georgia Football Before G-Day?

G-Day has officially been announced, and with that, it is time to predict which player will breakout during spring practices.

College football is slowly yet surely making its way back to the gridiron, with spring practices starting soon for programs across the country. The Georgia Bulldogs are one of those teams on the brink of getting back to work as G-Day was officially announced yesterday evening.

Every spring, it seems a singular player has a breakout performance in the practices before their spring game or during the spring game. Last year, we saw Lawson Luckie and Mekhi Mews take over Bulldog Nation, but it will be different this year. What player could do that this year; could it be a freshman, a transfer, or a player already embedded within the program? Let's discuss.

The Bulldogs have lost many vital keys to success this offseason and will surely be using this spring to figure out what they have to fill these voids. Through transfer portal additions and bringing in one of the best overall recruiting classes with loads of early enrollees, Georgia has plenty of talent to step up and make their names known.

On the defensive side of the ball, they have to find multiple players to replace the secondary trio of Kamari Lassiter, Tykee Smith, and Javon Bullard. The new coaches in the secondary room may not have to look long, though, with multiple talented players such as KJ Bolden and Joenel Aguero back there. Aguero has been part of the program for a full year now and saw enough playing time to lose his redshirt tag and could very well be one of the key secondary members alongside Malaki Starks, but Bolden has the sheer athleticism and football IQ to change that situation.

On the offensive side of the ball, you're losing more than just Brock Bowers. You're losing your No. 1 and No. 2 options at wide receiver, as well as both of your running backs. The running back room is loaded with talent, from the likes of Roderick Robinson II and Branson Robinson to even the transfer from the Florida Gators, Trevor Ettienne. Dell McGee will have plenty of options to work with this spring and plenty of players who could prove themselves worthy of serious reps this upcoming season.

But as you continue looking across the roster,, the wide receiver room glares at you in terms of what you are losing. Sure, Dominic Lovett, Dillon Bell, and Rara Thomas are all returning and proved why they were a good pick from the transfer portal last season, but aside from them, you aren't too sure about what is to come from the receiving corps this season. Kirby Smart went and added London Humphries and Colbie Young from Vanderbilt and Miami respectively, and they could come in and make an immediate impact on the team. But it is someone already entrenched within the program that you should keep an eye on. That player would be Anthony Evans III.

Evans saw playing time during the beatdown Georgia put on Florida State in the Orange Bowl to cap off the 2023 season, finishing with one catch for 14 yards and a nice touchdown grab while also returning two punts for a total of 21 yards. Although the box score doesn't say much aside from his touchdown grab, Evans could see his spot on the depth chart rise with a good spring season ahead of fall camp.
