4-Star QB Jake Merklinger Sets Commitment Date

Jake Merklinger, the 4-star QB from Calvary Day School, has set his commitment date and has Georgia in his final four schools.

Georgia, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Tennessee will hope to hear their names called this Thursday, March 30th, as 4-star QB Jake Merklinger announced on Twitter that he would be deciding where to attend college at 12:05 p.m. Thursday. Merklinger's announcement came after he completed visits with all four of his final schools in the decision.

The Savannah, GA native is a tri-sport athlete that plays basketball, lacrosse, and football. Although Merklinger has the stature to continue his career with either basketball or lacrosse, the 6' 3" gunslinger has proven his ability on the football field, earning region 3-AAA player of the year honors this past season. Throwing for 1,987 yards and completing 66.9% of his passes, his most impressive stat of this past season is his TD-INT ratio, 16:1 (32:2). 

The No. 6 QB for the 2024 class has received three crystal ball predictions from 247Sports, all to Tennessee, but if there is anything Kirby Smart knows how to do in recruiting, it is to get surprised commitments when people least expect it.
