College Gameday Crew Says Georgia Won't Threepeat

In this story:
College football is officially back, with week zero games taking place this Saturday, which also means ESPN's famous College Gameday show also made its comeback. During Saturday's show, the crew made their official college football playoff predictions for this season, and for Georgia fans, their selections may have been a little surprising.
Show hosts Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, and Pat McAfee released their predictions on the show, and none of them had Georgia winning the title this season. Howard predicted the final four teams would be Alabama, Florida State, Texas, and Michigan, with the Wolverines defeating Alabama in the championship game. McAfee and Herbstreit both picked Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State to be in the final four, with McAfee picking the Crimson Tide to topple Georgia in the title game and Herbstreit taking Alabama over Ohio State.
On top of that, all three Gameday members also picked Alabama to win the SEC this season.
Before Georgia fans get up in arms about the predictions, it is worth noting that nobody on the Gameday set last season predicted Georgia to take home the title last year, either. In fact, both Howard and former College Gameday member and former Georgia player, David Pollack, didn't even have the Bulldogs included in their final four predictions.
Georgia does have some obstacles to maneuver around this season in order to retain their college football crown and increase their title streak to three in a row. Carson Beck will be making his first-ever college start this season with Stetson Bennett now in the NFL, along with a new offensive coordinator as Mike Bobo will officially make his return to the play calling sheet for the Bulldogs this season. However, Alabama and Ohio State are facing the same obstacles that Georgia is this season.
While preseason projections hold no merit, it is interesting to see how some of the experts of the game think how the season will shake out this year. Georgia does continue to hold the best odds across the majority of most sports betting sites to win the national title this year, and regardless of what pundits in the media say, the Bulldogs remain in a good position to win a third straight title.
