Julian Humphrey Announces He Is Staying at Georgia

Georgia defensive back Julian Humphrey announces via Twitter that he is staying at Georgia for another season after leaning towards the transfer portal.

The Georgia Bulldogs have officially completed their 2023 season after beating Florida State in the Orange Bowl with a score of 63-3. Many have been anticipating the announcements from Georgia players regarding their future in football, whether that be the NFL or staying in college. Well, a pair of Bulldogs have gotten the ball rolling as defensive backs Daniel Harris and Julian Humphrey have announced via Twitter that they will be staying at Georgia.

Before the Orange Bowl, it was led to believe that Harris would be entering the transfer portal. Information was then shared by head coach Kirby Smart the week of the bowl game that, "Just because a player has posted something about going into the portal doesn't mean they have. There's a process you have to go through in order to get into the portal. [Harris] not in there."

As for Humphrey, there were talks that Humphrey might elect to hit the portal, as there are with many players during this time of year, but after this tweet from him, the same tweet that Harris made after the bowl game, it seems like he will be staying in Athens.

Humphrey was a key contributor for the Bulldogs on defense this season as he played meaningful snaps throughout the season as a cornerback. He would then get hurt later in the season which kept him on the sidelines, including during the Orange Bowl. But having him for another season at Georgia is good news for the Bulldogs as he flashed during the moments in which he had his number called.
