Georgia's Strength of Schedule vs Rest of SEC Explains Quite a Lot

According to one College Football expert, 6 of the 16 hardest schedules in college football are UGA opponents in 2023, with four of those coming in the top-6. What it means.

The SEC East is no place for the faint-hearted. It's a division within the toughest conference in the sport of football with rivals and foes filled with NFL-caliber talent and million-dollar coaching on both sides of the football. Though Georgia has managed to win five out of the last six SEC East divisional titles, making them the standard in the conference.

Additionally, as the two-time defending champion and all presumptions being that they will remain among the nation's best, they've managed to completely alter the strength of schedule numbers in the sport.

According to College Football expert Phil Steele, 6 of the 16 hardest schedules in college football are UGA opponents in 2023, with four of those coming in the top-6.

Where might Georgia rank you ask? Well, 63rd. Though that number would have been considerably higher had the Southeastern Conference not forced Georgia and Oklahoma to cancel their home and home series beginning with a Georgia road game this fall on September 9th, 2023. Instead, the Bulldogs will host Ball State, certainly crushing their strength of schedule. A schedule that was without a massive test outside of the standard SEC slate. Georgia's biggest problem seems to be that they don't have a "Georgia" on their schedule in 2023...
