Kirby Smart Still Undecided on Theme for 2023 Season

As the 2023 college football season approaches, Kirby Smart in the Georgia Bulldogs have still yet to decide what their theme for the season will be

Over the years, the University of Georgia's Football team has adopted a handful of key phrases that they use as their "themes" for the upcoming football season. Phrases such as "you're either elite or you're not", "Keep chopping wood", or even "we will be the hunters, not the hunted" have been uttered by fans, players, and coaches alike. The themes have become so popular, that the anticipation for what the next phrase will be has grown over the years.

However, as the 2023 season approaches, Kirby Smart and his staff have still yet to decide what their theme will be for the season. While a handful of phrases such as "eat off the floor" and "do it for Dev" (A reference to their late teammate Devin Willock) have been uttered, none have currently adopted the Bulldogs as the official "motto" for the upcoming season.

It was during the SEC Media Days in 2022 that Smart first gave the phrase "We will not be hunted" Which eventually became the theme for the entire 2022 season. The theme was in response to the idea that the Bulldogs would have a proverbial "target on their" back, given that they were the defending national champions. Georgia eventually would live up to its message and delivered a perfect 15-0 season and second straight national championship victory to fans.

Now, the Bulldogs are reigning back-to-back national champions and are at the epicenter of the college football world. Whether Smart wants to admit it or not, Georgia will be the team to beat during the 2023 season and will certainly need a strong message in order to make even more college football history.

Smart will speak at this year's SEC Media Day on Tuesday, July 18 in Nashville. Also speaking that day will be Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea, Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett, and Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze.
