Matchup Rewind: The Last Meeting Between Georgia and South Carolina

For more than 20 years now, the Bulldogs and Gamecocks have annually met on the gridiron to do battle for the SEC East. For many years, the matchup was a back an forth affair with neither team truly gaining an edge in the rivalry. However, the Bulldogs have now emerged as the dominant team in this rivalry over the past few years. Last year's matchup was no exception.
In the 2022 edition of this rivalry, Georgia dominated the Gamecocks in Columbia by a score of 48-7. The win was the team's first SEC victory of the season and propelled the Bulldogs to their second straight national title victory.
During the game, quarterback Stetson Bennett completed 16 of his 23 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns (both of which were caught by tight end Brock Bowers). Bennett also had an impressive touchdown run late in the second half of the game.
The Bulldogs' defense also turned in a monstrous performance as well. The unit intercepted quarterback Spencer Rattler twice and held their opponent to just 92 yards on the ground all while not allowing a touchdown until late into the fourth quarter.
Georgia will look to recreate its dominant performance from a year ago this Saturday when it renews its annual rivalry against the Gamecocks this Saturday. According to ESPN, the Bulldogs currently have a 91.8% chance to win the game.
