Bulldogs Ranked Number One in ESPN's Latest Post-Spring Rankings

After two straight national titles, the Bulldogs have once again been ranked number one ahead of the 2023 season

With Spring practices well in the rear-view mirror and the regular season inching closer and closer, ESPN has updated its top-25 rankings ahead of the 2023 college football season.

To the surprise of a few, the Georgia Bulldogs were ranked number one on the list. Not only have the Bulldogs dominated the previous two seasons, winning back-to-back national titles. The team also showed much promise during its 2023 spring scrimmage and seemed to have found its next starting quarterback in Carson Beck.

According to SISportsbook, the Bulldogs also currently have the best odds to win the national championship this season with +220 odds. The next best odds are the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes, who have +550 odds each.

Following the Bulldogs in the rankings are the top-two teams in the Big10, Ohio State and Michigan. To teams that the Bulldogs have defeated on their way to each of their previous two national championships. The Alabama Crimson Tide is ranked fourth, followed by the LSU Tigers at fifth and Tennessee Volunteers at sixth.

A couple of interesting stats to note: Michigan is the only team ranked in the top six that will not be replacing their starting quarterback from the previous season and of the six top-ranked teams, the SEC currently holds four.

While ESPN's latest rankings certainly provide a relatively accurate idea as to where teams will be ranked come the start of the regular season. Official rankings for the 2023-24 season will likely not come out for another few months.
