Despite Sweeping No. 13 NC State, Georgia Tech Left Out of D1Baseball's Top 25

Georgia Tech started ACC play 3-0 by sweeping No 13 NC State

Georgia Tech had one of the best weekends across the ACC, sweeping No. 13 NC State, including run-ruling them in the series finale on Sunday. Despite that though, the Yellow Jackets were not included in the D1Baseball top 25 this week. Not only did Georgia Tech sweep NC State, but they have won eight in a row.

Seven ACC teams were ranked in this week's top 25. Clemson (4), Duke (9), Florida State (12), Virginia (14), Wake Forest (16), Virginia Tech (19), and North Carolina all made the cut after this weekend.

The Yellow Jackets are going to have a huge chance to join the top 25 after this week. Danny Hall's team is going to face Georgia State tomorrow and they have already beaten the Panthers 10-0 this season. The Panthers have gone 9-3 since that loss to the Yellow Jackets and they just swept South Alabama over the weekend. Georgia Tech should win, but they will have to avoid a letdown after having such a great weekend.

The big challenge this week is going to come from a road series against No. 20 North Carolina. If Georgia Tech can find a way to win that series and beat Georgia State, I think they will have a strong case to jump into the top 25.

The thing that is likely keeping Georgia Tech out of the rankings is the loss to Northeastern. Although the Huskies are 12-5, getting shutout by them at home is not a great result. Everything is still ahead of the Yellow Jackets and they can make a statement with a series win over North Carolina this weekend.
