2024 Four-Star point guard Daquan Davis set to decide between Georgia Tech and Florida State today

It is finally decision day for 2024 four-star point guard Daquan Davis.

Davis is set to announce his commitment tonight at 8:00 p.m. and he is choosing between Florida State and Georgia Tech. Right now on 247Sports, the latest three crystal ball predictions all favor Florida State and it seems like the Seminoles have the momentum there.

Can Damon Stoudamire and the Yellow Jackets pull a stunner? Let’s wait and see tonight.

Davis was initially committed to Providence before reopening his recruitment in late October. Georgia Tech pounced on the opportunity and offered Davis in late December and it left quite an impression on him.

According to 247 Sports, Davis is ranked as the No. 77 nationally, the No. 7 point,  and No. 9 player in Georgia. Davis is one of the best players in the country. In the 2022-2023 season, he was named MaxPreps District of Columbia High School Basketball Player of the Year. He led the Cadets to a 30-3 record, a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference tournament title, and a national top 10 ranking. Davis averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals during that time.

Davis is playing his best basketball at the right time. He was stellar in a close-out game against one of the best teams in the OTE league, the YNG Dreamers. Davis dropped his first triple-double of the season finishing with 24 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds on an efficient 56% from the field. He has scored in every game this postseason.

The best attribute about his game is that he can score at a high level, and only needs a little bit of space to get his shot off and dominate. Davis is also shooting the three-ball at an efficient 46% in the playoffs. His playmaking is also something to behold. Davis can distribute with some of the best in the country. His assist-to-turnover ratio during the postseason has been stellar. He is averaging 6.4 assists per turnover in the playoffs and has recorded 8+ assists in three of the four games played.

Even if Davis does not commit to Georgia Tech tonight, the Yellow Jackets still have a very good class that ranks 13th in the country and fourth in the ACC.

Jaeden Mustaf is ranked No. 48 overall in the 247Sports composite ranking, and No. 6 at his position. He earned all-state honors last season at Carmel Christian School, leading the Cougars to a 28-4 record and a berth in the state championship game. He averaged 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He began his prep career at legendary DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., where his father attended. There, he averaged 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists as a sophomore. He also enjoyed a standout summer on the Nike EYBL Circuit in 2023 and was named MVP of the 2022 Adidas 3SSB 17U Championship.

Ranked No. 31 among centers and No. 182 overall in the 247Sports composite ranking, Cole Kirouac attended North Forsyth High School in Cumming, where he was named honorable mention all-state and also to the 6A Region 8 all-region team for his play throughout the 2022-23 season. Kirouac made the 6A Region 8 all-tournament team for his performance in the postseason and was selected to play in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association all-star game after the season. For the 2022-23 season, he averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots per game. He played AAU ball for the Atlanta Xpress and finished fifth in rebounding on the UA Next Circuit in 2023 (8.2 RPG).

Four-star forward Darrion Sutton has committed to Georgia Tech but has not signed. He could end up being the best player from the 2024 class.

Here is a scouting report on Sutton courtesy of On3 Sports Jamie Shaw:

“Darrion Sutton is a lengthy lefty. The ball skills are intriguing. Listed at 6-8, he is comfortable one the ball and capable of making different reads at multiple levels in the half court. You like the defensive upside with his length and his athletic fluidity, especially in the passing lanes. He needs to continue developing the jump shot, become a threat from the outside. A connecting forward who can fill in the gaps on a team.”

According to the 247Sports Composite, Doryan Onwuchekwa is the No. 111 player in the country, the No. 19 center, and the No. 7 player in the state of Texas.

Here is a scouting report on Onwuchekwa courtesy of On3 analyst Jamie Shaw:

“Doryan Onwuchekwa has a big frame and broad shoulders with solid length. Has good hands – albeit small – and touch with consistent range. Can stretch the floor out to beyond the arc, off the catch, and he puts it on the deck under control. He can drift and get too perimeter-oriented at times. When he plays close to the basket, he is a good area rebounder and a good outlet passer. He has range on catch-and-shoot threes. Has some upside to slide his feet on defense. He is still figuring out his game, but the consistency continues to become more and more frequent."

Georgia Tech also has a four-star committed for 2025, four-star forward Brandon Stores.
