Georgia Tech Basketball vs NC State: Live Blog

Georgia Tech is coming off perhaps the two worst losses of the Josh Pastner era and it is facing an NC State team that has surged to the top half of the ACC. The Yellow Jackets followed their 43-point loss to Duke with a loss to 2-19 Louisville and it seems that Josh Pastner and this program are at rock bottom.
The only way they can dig themselves out of this hole is by winning, but that is going to be challenging against NC State and the ACC's top scorer, Terquavion Smith. NC State won the previous matchup this season in Atlanta 78-66.
Georgia Tech has lost eight games in a row
Raleigh is one of the toughest places to win in the entire country and that is going to make winning tomorrow's game tougher. NC State (18-5, 8-4 ACC) has won its last three games and seven of its last eight dating back to the beginning of January. The Wolfpack’s lone loss in that stretch was an 80-69 decision at North Carolina, and they have since defeated Notre dame, Wake Forest, and Florida State. NC State, in fourth place in the ACC standings, is 12-1 at home this season, losing only to Pitt in its conference opener back in early December.

1st Half
- NC State is off to a 5-0 run to start the game. Terquavion Smith, the leading scorer in the ACC, has three points
- Four straight points from Georgia Tech cut the lead to one 5-4
- Georgia Tech now leads 9-7. The Jackets are 4-8 from the field to start the game
- Kyle Sturdivant now has six points and has hit two three's to start. Yellow Jackets lead 14-11
- A balanced effort all-around from Georgia Tech. Sturdivant with six points, Miles Kelly with seven points, and Ja'von Franklin with four points and three rebounds. Tech leads NC State 19-11 with 12:06 to go
- Georgia Tech has hit eight of its last ten. Lead the Wolfpack 25-22 halfway through the first half
- Georgia Tech calls a timeout with 7:54 left in the first half. Jackets still lead 25-22
- Tech has held Terquavion Smith to only three points so far.
- NC State has now tied the game up at 25-25. NC State is 6 for their last 8 and Georgia Tech is 1 for their last 7
- Tech has retaken the lead 29-25
- Media timeout with 2:59 left in the first half and Georgia Tech leads 33-31.
- NC State has the lead now 36-35
NC State leads Georgia Tech 41-35 at halftime.
2nd Half
The second half is about to get underway here in Raleigh.
- NC State has pushed the lead to nine now. 48-39
- Georgia Tech has cut the lead to five points. They have hit four of their last five shots
- NC State has not scored in 2:18
- Miles Kelly hits a three to cut the lead to three points. 49-46 lead for NC State
- Media timeout with 11:43 left in the game. NC State leads Georgia Tech 52-49. Tech has continued to shoot well, but have not been able to retake the lead
- Deebo Coleman hits a shot and cuts the lead to 52-51
- Coleman hits a free throw and ties the game. Tech is on a 6-0 run
- Franklin dunks the ball and now Georgia Tech has retaken the lead. 54-52
- Its been nearly six minutes since NC State scored a bucket
- Media timeout with 7:47 left in the game. Georgia Tech has a 54-52 lead in Raleigh. Tech has gone on an 8-0 run and held NC State scoreless for the last 5:46
- NC State tied the game briefly, but Georgia Tech retakes the lead 56-54
- NC State has hit one of their last ten shots
- Media timeout with 3:45 left. Georgia Tech holds a 61-60 lead over NC State
- NC State holds a four point lead 65-61 with two minutes left
- NC State hits a pair of free throws to make it a six-point game
