Grady Adamson committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this past Saturday, becoming the second commit in the 2025 class for the Yellow Jackets. Adamson is a three-star prospect from Oklahoma who plays for the Deer Creek Antlers. He had a stellar junior season throwing for 2,565 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also ran for 577 yards and seven touchdowns leading his team to the semifinals. Here is why he chose to ball for Georgia Tech.

“I was texting with coach Weinke for a little while before they offered me. We went down and visited them I think about two weeks ago. We went and visited and saw the campus and met with all the coaches. We met with Coach Key and that is where he offered me in his office after we had a good talk,” said Adamson. “I think the vision that Coach Brent Key has there and also the knowledge that offensive staff has. I think it’s a good spot for me to develop and definitely learn from those guys that have a lot of experience.”

Adamson is looking forward to learning from great football minds and really enjoyed the atmosphere when he visited a few weeks prior.

“The knowledge coach Weinke has of being a quarterback on and off the field and dealing with other effects of being a quarterback. Just the knowledge and coaching he is able to give is a big plus that Georgia Tech has. Coach Buster Faulkner made me feel like I belonged in that system and that I execute highly. I think with Coach Buster and Coach Weinke it will be a pretty electric offense we can have set up. There are definitely some good people to be around every day. The team atmosphere seemed like some good guys to be around every day and work with," said Adamson.

His playing days started in California when he was young before moving to Oklahoma seven years ago to play for Deer Creek.

“I have always grown up around football. My dad has been a coach for the past 20 years. It's been something I’ve never lived without. I've been in Oklahoma at Deer Creek playing with them the past seven years," said Adamson. "I was actually born in Connecticut and lived in California for about seven years. I played flag football in California and didn’t play tackle until I got to Oklahoma."

“I think most people underestimate it (Oklahoma football). We play some pretty big-time football. We have good coaches and really good staff. They get us ready every week, and then we go out and play on Fridays. We usually have a lot of people out there. It is a big-time thing in Oklahoma,” said Adamson.

In terms of what makes Adamson special is his ability to improvise and extend plays. He is able to go through his and never gets rattled when the pressure comes. It doesn’t matter what the defense throws his way he is prepared.

“I would say keeping plays alive. If something goes wrong or something messes up, I think I can keep it alive and extend the play. I think even in flag football when I was a kid I would scramble around and see those guys downfield and chuck it to them for a touchdown," said Adamson. "I think it is a part I’ve always had in my game. I think it comes with reps. My sophomore year, I was probably a little bit more happy-footed and trying to get out of there. I think just knowing your offense and trusting your guys just comes with it."

He comes from a football background and a great family that has instilled incredible values in him. Adamson credits them for his motivation, what makes him tick on the football field, and why he takes academics seriously.

“My parents both went to Ivy League schools. They have always been pretty high on academics. I do it for my family. The amount of work and sacrifices they made I just want to prove there is a reason they are making those sacrifices, and show off the extra stuff they have done for me. Also, continue to give credit to them. I wouldn’t be in this spot without the sacrifices they made,” said Adamson.

In terms of his success on the football field, he gives a lot of it to his QB coach and Offensive Coordinator Jake Hayes.

“He came to Deer Creek my freshman year. My first year of high school was actually his too. Definitely, I have grown a lot offensively in the past couple of years. Learning his system and going through film and classwork with him has definitely progressed my game a lot. We wouldn’t same offense without him," said Adamson.

Adamson has enjoyed a great spring so far getting national attention from Andrew Ivins (247Sports) at the Under Armour Camp in DFW and also being named a three-star via 247Sports. He has a lot of upside and potential the next level. He has continued to improve each year he has been a starter and has set his sights on parts of his game and his goals for 2024.

“I want to work on the mental aspect of it and more learning the defense. I will continue to improve footwork, the fundamentals and throwing the ball, but I think being able to read the defense and being on the same page as your coach is definitely a good tool to have,” said Adamson. “It would be nice to have 30 touchdowns and maybe a couple thousand yards. As far as team goals, I think continue to execute on offense and be on the same page. Team wise, I think we have a chance to give it a good run this year, and continue to win in the playoffs and give it our best shot.”
