2026 Edge Xavier Griffin Dives Into Georgia Tech Offer & Recent Visit

2026 Edge Xavier Griffin is one of the hottest names in recruiting especially here in the Peach State. The offers have continued to roll in for the young player. He now has 20 offers from major D1 programs offering him including LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and more.

Griffin was on campus this past week and left Georgia Tech with an offer. He recapped his visit and what impressed him about the Yellow Jackets.

“Georgia Tech was really nice. I can’t lie, it took me by surprise how beautiful the campus was. My mom was worried that it would feel too much like being in the city, but it’s definitely a campus feel. The coaching staff was cool to be around. I got to spend some one-on-one time with Coach Santucci and Coach Key, so we were able to be real with each other and talk about things other than football. “I will definitely be going back during the summer,” said Griffin.

As far as what impressed him most about Georgia Tech was the hospitality and vision of the program.

“The quad was packed with students. They had food trucks out on campus and they have one of the biggest intramural fields I have ever seen. I feel like the vision Coach Key and staff have could definitely shake things up in college football. I’m excited to see what they do this upcoming season,” said Griffin.

As a sophomore, Griffin finished with 52 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and seven QB hurries. His nine sacks led the team. His best game of the season came against South Paulding where he registered three sacks in a dominant effort.

Griffin stands at 6’4 and 210 pounds and possesses good size and strength. He already has a quick first step and lives in opponents' backfields. When he is coming to attack downhill, he is also a hard-hitter and forced three fumbles in 2023. His instincts are off the charts and he already dissects the read option at a high level. When you roll his tape, you see him be able to easily discern where the ball is going.

Gainesville uses him in a myriad of ways whether it’s off the edge on either side, in the middle of the defense, or even as a QB spy against elite dual-threat quarterbacks. Although it is still very early in his career, Griffin reminds you of Micah Parsons and how he is used by the Dallas Cowboys. A playmaker that can line up anywhere on the field on defense, and he is going to make plays and be disruptive. This type of player gives offensive coordinators headaches. It is still early in his career and his development but the potential is through the roof for the 2026 standout player.

The Yellow Jackets have continued to impress top-end recruits on their visits to campus thus far and have some really good momentum building in their favor. Saturday's game at the spring game will be another indication of where this program is headed in the Brent Key era and if they will build off their success in 2023.
