Georgia Tech Football Weekly Recruiting Recap: 6/19

The Yellow Jackets added to their 2024 recruiting class this week

What a week it was for Georgia Tech Football in terms of filling out their 2024 class.

In the last week, the Yellow Jackets landed seven commitments and rose in the recruiting rankings. Georgia Tech is now 30th on 247Sports and 23rd in Rivals. That is a nice jump up for Tech and there is still room to move up with some targets still on the board for them.

Let's recap the week that was in Georgia Tech recruiting.

1. 2024 tight end David Prince (Brunswick, GA) commits to Georgia Tech

Prince is a very intriguing tight end prospect that I think could develop into a nice player. He is a 6'4 220 LBS prospect that already has the athletic ability and with coaching and development he can be a complete tight end and that is what is going to be asked to do in Buster Faulkner's offense.

Prince is a three-star prospect on 247Sports and was rated the No. 73 tight end in the country. He plays at Glynn Academy in Brunswick and held offers from UCF, Arkansas, Liberty, FAU, and Troy, among others.

2. Three-star running back Trelain Maddox commits to Georiga Tech

Maddox becomes the first running back committed for the Yellow Jackets in the 2024 class. Four-star running back Duke Watson (now a Louisville commit) was committed earlier in the cycle but de-committed in May. Maddox plays at Parkview High School in Georgia and committed to Georgia Tech over Rutgers and Kentucky, his other finalists.

Other offers that Maddox had were Duke, Colorado, UConn, Missouri, Ole Miss, Penn State, and USC, among others.

3. Georgia Tech sends new offers out to prospects after camps

Georgia Tech hosted the Corky Kelly 7-on-7 and there were some prospects that had exceptional days and left Atlanta with an offer.

2025 Wide receiver Alexander Sanchez (Grayson, GA)

Sanchez reportedly had a very good day. He also holds offers from UCF and Louisville.

2025 WR/DB Smitty Smith

2026 LB Anthony Davis (Grayson, GA)

Davis is a super-talented linebacker that is in the 2026 class and he got his offer from Georgia Tech. Davis holds offers from Auburn, App State, Liberty, East Carolina, Arizona State, USF, and UCF.

2026 Wide Receiver Carnell Warren (Bluffton, SC)

2025 Athlete Chandler Jordan (Suwanee, GA)

Jordan had a good day for North Gwinnett High School and left with a Georgia Tech offer. He also holds offers from Auburn, Louisville, and Duke.

2025 Athlete Darryll Desir (Miami, FL)

Desir picked up an offer from the Yellow Jackets coaching staff. He is a talented 6'4 220 LBS player and he holds offers from Miami, FIU, UCF, Toledo, Charlotte, Maryland, Colorado, and Illinois.

4. Three-star offensive lineman Jordan Floyd (Parkview High School, GA) commits to Georgia Tech

Three-star offensive lineman Jordan Floyd from Parkview High School (GA) committed to the Yellow Jackets it came following his official visit to The Flats last weekend.

Other offers that Floyd held include UCF, Kentucky, Florida State, Maryland, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Pitt, and Tennessee, among others.

5. Three-star running back Jaedon Matthews commits to Georgia Tech

Shortly after adding in-state running back Trelain Maddox (Lilburn, GA), Georgia Tech added a running back from out west. Jaedon Matthews (Saguaro High School, Scottsdale, AZ) joined the Yellow Jackets class and will look to form the backfield of the future alongside Maddox. It was the second commitment in two days for Georgia Tech, as they landed three-star offensive tackle Jordan Floyd (Lilburn, GA) the day before.

Other offers that Matthews had included Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Duke, Kansas, Kansas State, Washington State, and Wisconsin.

 6. 2024 defensive back Nehemiah Chandler commits to Georgia Tech

Nehemiah Chandler, who plays at Wakulla High School in Crawfordville, FL announced his commitment to the Yellow Jackets. With his commitment, Chandler is now the first defensive back in the 2024 class for Georgia Tech.

Chandler is a 6'1 165 LBS versatile defensive back who will bring athleticism to the Georgia Tech secondary. In 2022, He was a two-way as a junior at Monroe, getting snaps at CB, WR, and QB. Appeared in 7 games, totaling 8 PBU and 2 INT on defense (Stats courtesy of 247Sports Andrew Ivins). Chandler was on an official visit to Georgia Tech this weekend.

Other offers that Chandler held were UCF (He took an official visit there last week), Liberty, Maryland, USF, UAB, Middle Tennessee State, and Florida A&M.

7. Three-star quarterback Graham Knowles commits to Georgia Tech

Three-star quarterback Graham Knowles (Southlake, TX) committed to Georgia Tech. He joins Aaron Philo as the two quarterbacks in the class and that is going to give Brent Key, Buster Faulkner, and Chris Weinke two quarterbacks to develop for the future.

Knowles has an intriguing skill set and size. He has a terrific arm and at 6'7 220 LBS, Knowles can make the necessary throws in the offense and he has a lot of upside. He is also a two-sport athlete that also plays basketball.

It is not uncommon for programs to take quarterbacks in a class. Georgia Tech needs more talent at each position and talent acquisition and player development are going to be a big part of this coaching staff.

Knowles ranks as the No. 1023 player in the country on the 247Sports Composite and the No. 62 quarterback. Other offers that the Texas quarterback had were from UTSA, Memphis, Colorado State, and UConn. He was reportedly on an official visit to UTSA last weekend.

Here are some stats and info on Knowles courtesy of 247Sports:

"Played in 13 games as a junior, including five as a starter following an injury to senior Kaden Anderson (Wyoming 2023 signee). Threw for 1,864 yards, 18 TDs, and 3 INTs on 127-for-174 passing (72.3 completion percentage). Went 3-1 in the playoffs, leading Southlake Carroll to a 13-1 record and the Texas 6A D-II regional final (fourth round)."

8. 2024 athlete Luke Harpring commits to Georgia Tech

Luke Harpring (Marist, GA) has been a rising prospect over these past couple of weeks and now he is the latest member of Georgia Tech's 2024 recruiting class. He plays at Marist High School in Georgia and will be staying home to play with the Yellow Jackets.

Harpring, son of former Georgia Tech basketball player Matt Harpring, was impressive at Georgia Tech's prospect camp on June 1st and left Atlanta with an offer.

This is one prospect that plays multiple positions and he is solid at all of them, Whether it is as a defensive end or a tight end, I think Harpring can find a way to make a difference on the field for the Yellow Jackets at some point in the future and that will likely be at tight end.

Harpring's other offers include Air Force, Army, Brown, Charlotte, Elon, Georgia Southern, Navy, and Penn.

9. Three-star defensive tackle Carlon Jones lists Georgia Tech among his top six schools
