Georgia Tech held its annual Pro Day yesterday and had seven players from last year's team workout in front of scouts from all 32 NFL Franchises. Guys like E.J. Jenkins, Keion White, and Charlie Thomas had great days on the field and caught the eye of the teams there.

After Pro Day, Yellow Jackets head coach Brent Key spoke to the media about the players and their performance that day. While Key did talk about that, one thing that stood out from what he said was a response to a question about making Georgia Tech a Pro Day destination;

"That is exactly what you want and what you want for your players. That is what you want... talk about the development of some guys and really it comes down to what they put on tape and that is what they look at when they get the invites to the combine and those things. How do they play, how do they play when they are banged up and tired and people are beat up on the team and play through the pain and play through the injury. Happy for those for having that opportunity and happy for Georgia Tech to be able to have those guys as a part of our family."

Brent Key hopes to turn Georgia Tech into a pro day destination for NFL Scouts

This year, Georgia Tech is going to have a chance to have a player selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2010, when Derrick Morgan and Demaryius Thomas were picked. Keion White has enjoyed a great pre-draft process and Key talked about the attributes that make White such a promising prospect:

"He has a unique blend of speed and power for that size and I have no clue what any times were out there but I don't need a stopwatch to see that is a big man running and looking good doing it but then you turn on the tape and see what he did as the season went on when people were banged up and hurt and he really really elevated his game at that point time, especially knowing the kind of practices that were taking place here with the physicality and the good on good and the challenging that was taking place but to see that out of him as the season went on and being able to use that as a measuring stick for our guys and show them that there is a right way to do things and look what happens when you do it this way, you're not going to get worn down or beat down, just look at him at that time."

For Georgia Tech to become a bigger Pro Day destination for NFL personnel, recruiting, and player development must improve. Key is working hard to change that and while it may take time, he is going to have a chance to turn Georgia Tech into a place that NFL coaches and front-office executives are going to want to be at.
