Georgia Tech Defensive Tackle Akelo Stone Enters Transfer Portal

Stone was one of the highlights of the defensive line in the spring

In a surprising move, Georgia Tech defensive tackle Akelo Stone is going to be entering the transfer portal.

Stone was one of the captains of the spring game for the Yellow Jackets and after the game, was awarded the Rock Perdoni outstanding defensive lineman award. Stone was expected to be a big part of the defensive line rotation this season and the defensive tackle depth has taken a hit during this transfer portal window cycle. Redshirt freshman K.J. Miles elected to enter the portal last week.

Last season. Stone had 12 tackles, one sack, and one pass deflection. He finished with a 56.5 grade on PFF (Pro Football Focus) last season.

With Stone gone, you can expect that guys like D'Quan Douse, Makius Scott, Clemson transfer Etinosa Reuben, Jason Moore, Zeek Biggers, and possibly young guys like Horace Lockett Bryston Dixon.

While I do think losing Stone does hurt the depth of this position, there are still talented players to step up on the interior. Douse and Scott started every game for the Yellow Jackets last season and the coaching staff seemed to be high on Biggers and Reuben after the spring. You can never rule out the possibility of a transfer portal addition however and with the portal closing soon, that could happen fast.
