Georgia Tech's Updated Win Total Projection + Odds to Win the ACC Heading Into Week Zero

There is actually going to be college football played this weekend.

While Georgia Tech is not playing on this year's week zero slate, the Yellow Jackets are going to have their eyes on a couple of games. NC State heads to Charlottesville to face Virginia in an early ACC showdown, while Stanford faces Hawaii later on in the day. The Yellow Jackets don't face either NC State or Virginia this season, but they are going to be competing with them for a spot in the ACC Championship game, while Georgia Tech heads West to face Stanford on Sept. 26th.

Brent Key's team is going to get going on Sept. 3rd against Colorado, a game they are favored to win, and then they will welcome Tennessee to Atlanta in week two.

With fall camp wrapped up, where is Georgia Tech's win total projection and odds to win the ACC?

When you look at the odds to win the ACC, there is a clear favorite (Miami) and then a bunch of teams bunched together as contenders.

SMU and Louisville are seen as the biggest challengers to Miami, but there is not much seperation from the rest of the teams in the conference.

For Georgia Tech, their odds have not shifted that much. Their over/under win total is set at 6.5, and their odds to win the ACC on FanDuel Sportsbook are +3500, good for 9th-best in the ACC.

Georgia Tech avoids the top two projected teams in the ACC this season and if you beleive the oddsmakers, a home game on Nov. 7th against Louisville is going to be the toughest challenge for the Yellow Jackets. They also face Clemson, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Duke, Wake Forest, Stanford, and Boston College. It is an interesting mixture of some teams that are projected to be in the ACC race and some teams not expected to make bowl games.

In each of his three seasons as head coach, Brent Key has pushed Georgia Tech over their projected win total.

The win total projection makes sense, and I believe there are a lot of "toss-up" games for the Yellow Jackets this season. They are likely to be favored in six games (Colorado, Mercer, Stanford, Duke, Boston College, and Wake Forest) and underdogs in six games (Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Clemson, and Georgia).

When it comes to them being underdogs in those games, I don't think they are going to be a double-digit underdog in any of them except the matchup against the Bulldogs. Key has shown the ability to get the most out of teams and pull off upsets.

I don't think Georgia Tech is going to be a large favorite or large underdog in many games this season, which leads to a wide range of outcomes. That makes them one of the most fascinating teams in the conference and a potential spoiler in the ACC race and a team that could certainly end up in Charlotte.
