Georgia Tech WR Coach Jafar Williams Excited for What Isaiah Fuhrman Brings to The Yellow Jackets

In this story:
Isaiah Fuhrmann was a key offensive acquisition from the transfer portal and expected to come in and be a big part of the offense in 2026. He came over from Elon, where he was a highly productive wide receiver. Fuhrmann had 46 catches, 907 yards, and nine touchdowns during his sophomore campaign. He had one of his best games of the season against Hampton, where he finished with six catches for 135 yards and a touchdown.
In his final three games of the season, Fuhrmann finished with 12 catches, 306 yards, and three touchdowns. He has shown the ability to take over in games. What makes him stand out is his 6’4 and 200-pound frame and how he can constantly make plays. That is where he drew attention from several Power 4 teams, including the Yellow Jackets.
Per WR Coach Jafar Williams, the Yellow Jackets are waiting for Furhamann to get fully healthy.
“We've got to get him healthy. So I didn't get a really big sample size of Zay. But obviously watching film on what he's done in past to have a bigger guy hopefully into the boundary can help us. But again, we're not necessarily worried about depth charts and who's playing where because those things kind of work themselves out as we get, you know, through the summer into fall camp. So right now, the biggest thing with Zay is to get healthy.
It will be important that he gets to full health by fall camp. The Yellow Jackets are going to need their wide receivers to help complement the speedy Jordan Allen, who has continued to improve his craft and has mastered all three wide receiver positions. It feels like Fuhrmann is the guy to do that, but he is currently dealing with trying to get healthy, which is setting him back. Time will tell if we will see Furhmann lined up on the boundary and playing a profound role for the Yellow Jackets. Competition is at a premium right now, and there is no depth chart according to Coach Williams, which is a good way to stand out to the coaches.
“I think that the biggest thing is competition. The guys are out there trying to compete. There are no depth charts right now in spring ball, so it's a good opportunity for you to roll ones, twos, threes, everybody through there and let everybody kind of get some reps with the ones as well. That's the biggest thing for us right now is to see who can go help us win in the fall,” said Williams.
