One Projection For Georgia Tech's Win Total Is Out

How many wins could Georgia Tech get against their 2023 schedule?

It might only be February, but win totals projections are already starting to come out for the 2023 season.

In recent seasons, Georgia Tech's projected win total has been among the lowest in the ACC, but one analyst thinks that the number is going to be higher than last season.

After going into last season with a projected win total of 3.5 at most major sportsbooks, Grant Hughes of 247Sports has the Yellow Jackets' projected number sitting at six. Here is what Hughes had to say about the Yellow Jackets' win total:

"Georgia Tech removed the interim tag from Brent Key in November after the Yellow Jackets alum inherited a 1-3 team from Geoff Collins and led Georgia Tech to a 4-4 record over its final eight games, including two wins over ranked opponents. Though quarterback Jeff Sims left for Nebraska in the transfer portal, Georgia Tech added Texas A&M transfer Haynes King to add to an experienced quarterback room featuring Zach Gibson and Zach Pyron. Key’s first slate as the full-time head coach isn’t an easy one with matchups against Louisville, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Miami, North Carolina, Clemson, and Georgia."

Can Brent Key guide Georgia Tech back to a bowl game in 2023?

This projected win total of six is the fourth-lowest in the ACC. Hughes had Virginia (3.5), Boston College (4), and Virginia Tech (5) lower than the Yellow Jackets.

While the schedule is tough, I do see a path to a bowl game for the Yellow Jackets. They have two games against teams with projected lower win totals (Virginia and Boston College) in which they will be favored, as well as games against South Carolina State and Bowling Green. If they win those four games, you only need two more for a bowl game.

Other ACC opponent win totals include Clemson (10.5), Syracuse (6.5), Wake Forest (7), Louisville (7.5), Miami (8), and North Carolina (8.5).

Georgia Tech is going to kick off its season against Louisville on September 1st in Mercedes Benz Stadium.
