Gonzaga's Brian Michaelson on UConn: 'I don't think they've missed a beat'
The No. 5 UConn Huskies have certainly earned the respect of the Gonzaga men's basketball coaching staff as the reigning national champions who will likely contend for the program's sixth title in March.
Despite losing three of last season's starters to the NBA, head coach Dan Hurley reloaded his roster to fill the voids left by Adama Sanogo, Andre Jackson Jr. and Jordan Hawkins. Rutgers transfer Cam Spencer has made an immediate impact with 15.8 points per game on 45.6% from 3-point range. Five-star freshman and 6-foot-6 wing Stephon Castle has put up 9.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game through his first four games after missing the team's first six outings with a knee injury. Those additions parlayed with the growth from Tristen Newton, Alex Karraban and Donovan Clingan have the Huskies (9-1) among the favorites to cut down the nets in April once again.
