The Gonzaga Bulldogs head down to sunny Los Angeles where they take on the Loyola Marymount Lions in a West Coast Conference affair.
Gonzaga (18-6, 8-2 WCC) is coming off its biggest win of the season, a thrilling 89-85 upset over then-No. 17 Kentucky at Rupp Arena on Saturday. Graham Ike led the way with 23 points, Nolan Hickman and Anton Watson added 17 apiece while Ben Gregg hustled his way to 14 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Braden Huff had 12 points including a run of eight straight in the second half while Ike dealt with foul trouble.
The Bulldogs raced out to a double-digit lead over the Wildcats at halftime, though Reed Sheppard sparked a 12-0 scoring run early in the second half to flip the flow of momentum. Down 57-51, Gonzaga weathered the storm with 18 scores on its next 22 possessions and held Kentucky without a field goal for the final two minutes. Up 86-84 with five seconds left, Gregg intercepted an alley-oop pass attempt from Sheppard before sinking a free throw to effectively end the game.
With the win, Gonzaga moved to 13-0 when scoring 80 or more points this season and 12-0 when it shoots 50% or better from the field.
LMU (10-14, 3-7 WCC) has lost four in a row after a 72-63 loss at home to Pepperdine on Saturday. Injuries have plagued the Lions as of late, as leading scorer Dominick Harris missed the game with a knee injury, while Keli Leaupepe has missed the last two games with plantar fasciitis.
Lions head coach Stan Johnson said Harris was "doubtful" to play his former team. The former Gonzaga guard is averaging 14.0 points (10th in the WCC) and shoots a league-high 43.6% on 3-point attempts (11th in NCAA Division-I).
Gonzaga beat LMU, 92-58, in the first matchup of the season at The Kennel. The Bulldogs have won 31 of the last 33 meetings and have won 11 straight in LA.
